Testimonials of Canon Dslr EOS 550D / Rebel T2i Users

By Photoleif – Numerous good qualities have been said about EOS 550D. It is superb in countless ways. You can check out other reviews to get more specific details. I will just give my own observations and summary opinions:

If you want to upgrade to a higher model camera, it will be a lot more manageable for you since the lenses will be compatible with many controls that are similar.

You cannot expect a lot from a lens kit. It can be noisy, cheapo and has an ancient and very slow USM which uses plastic bayonet. It’s also useless when you try to use the auto-focus function in dim lights. It is not really worth its $100 price.

The ISO function is wonderful. The ISO 800 of my XTi is more like ISO 3200 when it comes to T2i. It’s really useful in times that you need to capture a great picture in low lights. You can furthermore have it go even more to 51,200 but you won’t really like the results. They are identical as the XTi pushed to an ISO of 6400. I compared it based on visual comparisons with the non reduced noise pictures. When you get to apply mild NR utilizing DDP software, the ISO 12,800 becomes a very useful tool.

The first one to have an Auto-ISO function. Canon also made it right, with how it’s created the user is able to limit the auto-select range.

The video capabilities are exceptional. You must however follow what is stated in the manual booklet and utilize the function with at least an SD class, 6 cards but class 10 is much more preferable. I am using a class 6 myself and get a bit of jerkiness when I reach 720p.

Impressively, it also has a remote control. Utilizing a long cable for USB, the user is able to utilize the Utility software’s “remote control functionality”, this also includes the user being bale to control not only the normal features but the user can also schedule the shots to be captured in a time-lapse. You can also utilize this software for registering your name as well as the copyright statement.

By C. McClellen – I consider buying the EOS 550D as one of my greatest investments. The ISO functions as well as the 18-MP it offers are really worth the price. This camera totally blew my mind off. I am not really a professional photographer but I want better quality pictures other than what a digital camera can offer. EOS 550D is an incredibly simple camera to use with a lot of features for the users to take advantage of.

Coming from a newbie point of view, EOS 550D is truly very basic for anyone to use. I don’t have a very steady hands but I am able to take great pictures even in low lights. The color black looks black, with no grain present in the pictures, even if it was taken in very low light. The default size is enormous it’s about 5Kx3K. I am now using a 32 G SDHD card which can rate up to 3979 pictures with this size.

The rapid shot function is also a great feature of this camera. The screen is very clear and large enough for optimized viewing.

The captures of videos are okay. It is a full 1080 and even if it can reach up to 30p, the 24p is a much more recommended. Like all the other cameras, its video shots are not that good in dim light.

I am not a pro photographer therefore I cannot comment on the other more advance features. For novice users like me, the modes are really working quite great.  Being a very easy to use camera and produces high quality pictures, me and my wife highly recommends this camera.
